Dryer Road Playground Replacement Project

COMING IN THE SUMMER OF 2026!

The Town Board and the Department of Parks and Recreation are excited to announce that a new playground will be coming to Dryer Road Park in the summer of 2026! The project was initially envisioned in September 2024 as part of a “Priority Projects Survey” issued to our residents by our Parks and Recreation Citizens’ Advisory Committee. The survey results identified an “Accessible Playground” as one of the top priorities.

The Town Board earmarked $132,000 in federal aid from its American Rescue Plan Act funding for this project in December 2024.  The Parks and Recreation Citizens’ Advisory Committee formed a sub-committee to lead the project and tasked our Director of Parks and Recreation with developing and issuing a Request for Proposals (RFP) in the summer of 2025.  The goal of the project was to focus on inclusivity, accessibility, challenge and adventure, a “flow of activities”, benches and shade elements throughout the site.

The Town received over fifteen unique designs from eight playground and safety surfacing companies and selected Gametime / Marturano Recreation and sofSurfaces as the most preferred design proposals. The Town Board authorized the purchase in November 2025 with the balance of funding to be allocated from our parks trust capital reserve account. The new playground will feature an Inclusive Whirl™, a 2–5-year-old ramped play structure, a tree swing and toddler swing, a roped, climbing structure, a 5-12 year-old play space with 10’and 12’ high towers and tube slides, balancing elements and two shade structures with benches. The safety surface will be comprised of rubber tiles as we now make the move away from the engineered wood chips which our residents requested in their comments within the survey.  You will note our “Treehouse” theming throughout the new playground site!

The entire (7,200 sq. ft.) playground far exceeds the previous footprint of (5,500 sq. ft.) and we hope that it will complement other recent improvements made to Dryer Road Park since it was initially dedicated in 2004. The construction teams from Gametime and sofSurfaces will be on-site in the spring of 2026 and the Town of Victor’s latest parks and recreation facility will come to life!  For more information about this project, please contact Brian Emelson, CPRE, Director of Parks and Recreation at (585) 742-0141.
