The Department of Sustainability & Solid Waste Management is excited to share the 2026 Special Collection Event Calendar.

A few reminders for events:

1. Online registration will be available for all events, except the Household Hazardous Waste Events. Links for online registration and a contact number will be provided once the registration period opens. Please note that registration for many of the events fills quickly.
2. All events are open to Ontario County residents only and all residentially generated material will be accepted at no charge again this year.
3. There are many programs for free and convenient collection of paint, stains, and primers and electronic waste  throughout the county and open year round. We are still accepting these materials at their dedicated collection events, but there is no need to wait. Click the links above for more information and a list of drop off locations.

Help Prevent Pollution and Wildfires

Open burning is the single greatest cause of wildfires in NYS. To report a wildfire, call 1-833-NYS-RANGERS (1-833-697-7264). 

When you plan a fire, always check for fire danger in your area on DEC's online map (updated every week). 

Also, local governments may have stricter rules than NYS; your fire department will have information about local burning laws.
